Executive Summary

The good U.S. data keeps on rolling in, suggesting the American economy is gaining momentum and shrugging off the weakness in the rest of the world. November employment report showed U.S. payrolls expanding by 321,000 the fastest pace since January 2012. Revisions added another 44,000 to payrolls. The unemployment rate held steady at a six-year low of 5.8%.

US factory activity moderated in November, but sustained gains in new orders and a rebound in exports suggested the economy remained on a firmer footing despite slowing global growth. The ISM said its index of national factory activity fell to 58.7 last month as the pace of restocking slowed.
