GCC corporate earnings in the second half of 2015 declined by 11% YoY, and 19% compared to 1H15. All GCC countries recorded negative earnings, barring UAE, which was helped by growth in real estate. In 2H15, Telecom sector recorded the highest earnings growth in the GCC at 14%, while Banks recorded a decline of 1%. Commodities sector continued its negative run from 2H14, with overall profits declining by 38%. Fall in oil prices, strengthening US dollar and decelerating global growth were responsible for the poor earnings in the second half of 2015. We project overall GCC Earnings to reach USD 62.4Bn in 2016 implying a growth rate of -3%.
