• Saudi Telecom Company, better known as STC, commenced operations in 1998 as the first mobile operator in Saudi Arabia. It is KSA’s leading telecommunications service provider and the biggest in the entire Middle East in terms of market capitalisation in the telecom sector (USD 34 billion). The government of Saudi Arabia has 70 per cent stake in STC. 
• The company provides fixed-line, mobile, internet, and other telecommunications services directly and through its subsidiaries. 
• Its international presence extends to 11 countries. STC’s domestic subscriber’s base stood at approximately 29.2 million. It had 44.4 per cent market share in wireless services and 71.6% per cent market share in broadband services. 
• STC has been at the helm of introducing the latest technologies and services to the region. STC was one of the first operators to launch 4G services in the Saudi market and it soon introduced them in the regional markets of Kuwait and Bahrain in which STC is present through the brand called “VIVA”.
