• Qatar Electricity and Water Company (QEWC) was established in 1990 in accordance with the provisions of the Commercial Companies Law when electricity generation and water production was privatized for the first time in Qatar. 
• Approximately 52% of the shares are owned by the government of Qatar and the rest 48% is held by companies like Qatar Navigation Q.S.C., Qatar Insurance Company S.A.Q and individuals. 
• QEWC operates 7 plants for the generation of electricity and desalination of water in the State of Qatar. As of 2014, it has an installed capacity to generate 2,554.5 MW and 201 million gallons of water annually. 
• Sale of electricity and water are the major revenue generating operations for QEWC which accounted for 53.34% and 40.53% of total revenues respectively. 
• Revenue contributed by the sale of electricity increased at a CAGR of 2.2% over the periods 2012 to 2014. Revenue contributed by the sale of water increased at a CAGR of 4% during the years 2012 to 2014. 
• QEWC stock outperformed the Qatar stock index consistently during 2010-14. The stock registered an annualized return of 15.6% from December 2009 to December 2014 whereas the general index posted an annualized return of 12% in the same period.
